چکیده

Abstract Background Soil samples were taken after 27 years from a long-term field experiment to study the effects of composted pure cattle farmyard manure (FYM) and two FYM treatments with biodynamic preparations on soil chemical microbiological properties. Methods organic carbon (SOC), total nitrogen, basal respiration, fungal ergosterol, microbial biomass C (MBC) nitrogen (MBN) analyzed in 6-field crop rotation system, conducted as randomized block design six replicates. The multi-substrate-induced respiration (multi-SIR) approach was used assess functional diversity by respiratory response 17 low molecular weight substances. Results All revealed generally positive SOC, N, MBC, MBN contrast control without FYM. Only ergosterol not increased application. After experimental years, discriminant function analysis multi-SIR data only significant general preparations, but also able differentiate between sole application Achillea millefolium preparation standard all 6 compost preparations. Conclusions specifically improve N status community indicated higher catabolic use D-glucosamine well amino acids ?-aminobutyric acid, L-cysteine, L-leucine. reason for different cannot be explained current study. Long-term effects of compost amendment of soil on functional and structural diversity and microbial activity

We studied the effects of applying different composts (urban organic waste, green waste, manure and sewage sludge), mineral fertilizer and compost plus mineral fertilizer on chemical, biological and soil microbiological parameters over a 12-year period. The organic C and total N levels in soils were increased by all compost and compost + N treatments. Microbial biomass C was significantly (P £ ...

Microbial population structures in soil particle size fractions of a long-term fertilizer field experiment.

Soil structure depends on the association between mineral soil particles (sand, silt, and clay) and organic matter, in which aggregates of different size and stability are formed. Although the chemistry of organic materials, total microbial biomass, and different enzyme activities in different soil particle size fractions have been well studied, little information is available on the structure ...

Contrasting effects of insect and molluscan herbivores on plant diversity in a long-term field experiment.

The importance of invertebrate herbivores in regulating plant communities remains unclear, due to the absence of long-term exclusion experiments. An experiment in an English grassland involving long-term exclusions of insect and mollusc herbivores, along with rabbit fencing, showed strong, but opposing, effects of the invertebrate herbivores. Plant species richness declined and biomass increase...
